Writer Bryan Johnson gleefully provides an overview of the concept:  “What do you phone call a guy who’s lost everything, a race of weird extraterrestrials, a psychopath who sports a bondage-style, leather pig mask, a dimension choc-a-bloc full of nightmarish creatures, in addition to Bigfoot, El Chupachabra, as well as a hold of other cryptids?  You phone call it Cryptozoic Man! It’s a tasty monstery stew coming your method just in time for Halloween!”

“I am so psyched about the Cryptozoic guy job since it has a bit of whatever I like about comics,” states Walter Flanaghan, who is aptly handling the art chores of the series.  “It has action, science fiction, as well as horror elements, plus my preferred type of comic book hero: the monster hero.  Cryptozoic guy is the story of a guy who will stop at no lengths to discover his missing daughter… even going so far as enabling himself to be transformed into a horrifying patchwork monster made up of the creatures of legend: Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, as well as the jersey Devil.”

Cryptozoic guy debuted originally as a idea on the television show Comic book Men, a regular series on AMC showcasing the operations as well as staff of filmmaker Kevin Smith’s new jersey comic book store, Jay as well as silent Bob’s trick Stash.  A second season episode focused primarily on Johnson as well as Flanaghan’s advancement of the Cryptozoic guy idea as a pitch to Dynamite’s CEO as well as publisher Nick Barrucci as well as Joseph Rybandt, senior Editor.  market legend Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man as well as The Avengers, provided a radiant endorsement of the job in a idea video.  The televised debut of the Cryptozoic guy comic book provided a big chance for the creators to reach out to a around the world audience.

“Bryan as well as I are hoping visitors will dig the vibe we are going for in the book,” adds Flanaghan.  “We want to bring a weird as well as spooky twist to these famous creatures, legendary beasts that still bring a sense of secret as well as question by themselves.  in addition to sprinkling in some aliens, inter-dimensional portals, time travel, as well as much, much more along the method in our weird cosmic comic!”

“We’ve kept a close eye on the Comic book guy show, thanks to our long association with Kevin Smith,” adds Nick Barrucci of Dynamite, who previously published Smith’s reinterpretations of traditional characters eco-friendly Hornet as well as Bionic Man.  “When Bryan as well as Walt came to our office to make the pitch, they did so in style, with more style as well as creativity than we could’ve anticipated.  They did have a leg up with Kevin, however there is the flipside. They were under a great deal of pressure to get approval, since — well, I believe you can picture exactly how much ribbing that Kevin, Ming, as well as Mike would provide them if we provided the thumbs down, right?  They definitely had an edge with Walter having drawn a few Batman series at DC.  The pitch was fun, intriguing, as well as out-of-the-box different, as well as we enjoyed it a lot.  How might we not publish their new project?  Cryptozoic guy is wild as well as offbeat, humorous as well as terrifying.  It’s a fantastic addition to our line, perfect to location together with our army of Darkness or Dresden data comics.”
